The AXIS Grand Opening and International Education Roundtable were successfully held on the AXIS campus on Monday, March 27, 2023. The event was attended by leaders of Xiamen Education Bureau, well-known international leaders in international education, as well as AXIS staff, parents, and students. They witnessed the grand opening ceremony and participated in the International Education Roundtable. 

2023年3月27日，厦门长菁外籍人员子女学校（AXIS）创校庆典与国际教育圆桌论坛盛大举行。出席此次活动的有厦门市教育局领导、国内外知名国际教育领导者、长菁家长和学生们。他们共同见证了长菁的创校庆典、并参与了国际教育圆桌论坛。 

AXIS is an authentic K12 international school that offers an inquiry-based international curriculum in alignment with the US Common Core, featured by IB PYP at the Primary level and AP at the Secondary level. It is conveniently located in Huli District, Xiamen. AXIS is jointly invested and managed by International Schools Services, which also owns Shekou International School in Shenzhen. 

厦门长菁AXIS是一所K-12纯国际学校，招收从幼儿园到高中的持外籍或港澳台地区身份的学生，以IB PYP及AP课程体系为主。学校位于厦门湖里区枋湖北二路，由美国全球教育服务机构ISS投资并管理，与深圳蛇口国际学校是姐妹校。 

The theme of this International Education Roundtable Forum was "The Value and Benefits of International Education: Expert Experience and Best Practice.”The Forum Speakers included Mr. Bill Pearson, AXIS Head of School, Mr. Greg Smith, Vice President of ISS Asia Pacific Office, Mr. Harish Kanabar, Head of School from Shekou International School, Mr.  Matthew Doige, Secondary Principal of Shekou International School, Dr. Kelly Kramer, Head of School of International School of Dongguan (ISD), and Ms. Aracelis Maldonado, Head of School of Nansha College of Preparatory Academy (NCPA).  

此次国际教育圆桌论坛的主题是：国际教育的价值与益处 - 专家经验与最佳实践。讲者包括：来自厦门长菁AXIS的总校长 Bill Pearson 先生、来自ISS的亚太地区副总裁 Greg Smith先生、蛇口国际学校的总校长 Harish Kanabar 先生、中学部校长 Matthew Doige先生、东莞文盛国际学校ISD的总校长Kelly Kramer博士、广州NCPA美式高中的总校长 Aracelis Maldonado女士等。

Our distinguished speakers have been deeply involved in the field of international education for decades and have long-standing international education and leadership experience in world-renowned international schools. Mr. Bill Pearson, the AXIS Head of School, has previously served as an administrative leader and Head of School at the International School of Beijing (ISB) and the Singapore American School (SAS). 

诸位讲者都在国际教育领域深耕了数十年，并且在世界知名的国际学校有着长久的国际教育及领导经验，来自厦门长菁AXIS的总校长 Bill Pearson 先生就曾经在北京顺义国际学校ISB以及新加坡美国人学校（SAS）担任过行政领导及总校长。

Mr. Bill Pearson delivered a welcome speech at the ceremony, emphasizing the school's role in providing high-quality international education that values diversity and cultural tolerance and the importance of international education in cultivating critical thinking and problem-solving skills for our children. 

AXIS 校长 Bill Pearson 先生在庆典上发表了欢迎辞，强调学校的使命是提供重视多样性和文化宽容的优质国际教育、以及国际教育对于孩子们培养批判性思维与解决问题能力的重要性。 

Mr. Greg Smith, President of ISS Asia Pacific and legal representative of AXIS, discussed the importance of international education and its role in shaping future leaders and building meaningful and lasting community connections. Ms. Kris D'Amico, a representative of AXIS teachers, and Ms. Miru Liu and Mr. Kim Cai, representatives of AXIS students, also shared their experiences of learning and development at AXIS and what international education means to them. 

ISS亚太副总裁，也是长菁的法人代表 Greg Smith 先生，谈到了国际教育的重要性以及在塑造未来领导者方面的作用。AXIS 教师代表 Kris D'Amico 女士和 AXIS 学生代表 Miru Liu 和 Kim Cai 也分享了他们对在长菁学习和成长的经验和对国际教育的认识。 

Mr. Saleh Albuainain, a representative of AXIS parents, and Mr. Cody Lin, President of the AXIS Parent Support Association (PSA), expressed their gratitude for the school's commitment to providing whole-child and inclusive international education that supports the needs of international families.

This extraordinary celebration and international education feast demonstrated AXIS’s commitment to international education, cultural inclusiveness, and the cultivation of future leaders.

It takes a village to raise a child. Community and meaningful connections are crucial to a child's education. Leaders, educators, parents, staff, and community partners who attended the event have come together to celebrate this important milestone in the history of AXIS.
