中学化学老师 Chemistry Teacher


马嘉雪老师拥有美国藤校达特茅斯学院的生物物理化学硕士学位 (全额奖学金)和南开大学的化学学士学位,且持有中国高中化学教师资格证,有着丰富的教学科研经验,曾在美国达特茅斯学院担任四年教师助理,教授生物化学,并有研究助理的科研经历。

Jiaxue Ma has a master's degree in biophysical chemistry from Dartmouth College in the USA (with full scholarship) and a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Nankai University. She also holds a teaching certificate. Jiaxue has many years of teaching and research experience. She was a TA and RA at Dartmouth College for four years, engaged in the biochemistry programme.

Jiaxue was Dartmouth College's top student and received a full Scholarship, Jiaxue Ma is well-placed to be a spokesman for our Chemistry Department. She uses the most up-to-date teaching methods and she wants to be a catalyst for the growth of students from generation to generation.



实验 · 探索未知的魅力

Experiment:Explore the Charm of the Unknown




一个大大的塑料瓶,一根长长的点火棒,在嘉雪老师和Masa老师的指导下,九年级的学生San拿着点火棒,小心翼翼地将其靠近瓶口,随着一阵急促尖锐的响声,在场的师生们瞬间沸腾起来,离得近的学生则下意识捂住了耳朵。

With a big plastic bottle and a long ignition stick, under the guidance of Jiaxue and Masa, San, from G9, took the ignition stick and carefully put it close to the bottle mouth.


“今天我们做的实验叫‘Woosh Bottle’,需要先将少量高浓度的乙醇、甲醇或丙醇倒入塑料瓶中摇匀,使得醇类蒸汽均匀散布在瓶中,再使用点火棒点燃,点燃后乙醇瞬间燃烧,产生大量的热量,使塑料瓶内的气体膨胀,当膨胀的气体快速通过狭窄的瓶口时,就会发出非常尖锐的声音。”实验后,九年级的Bruce向大家解说道。

 "The experiment is 'Woosh Bottle', a mixture of alcohol and air in a large polycarbonate bottle is ignited. The resulting rapid combustion reaction, often accompanied by a dramatic 'whoosh' sound and flames, demonstrates the large amount of chemical energy released in the combustion of alcohols." explained Bruce, from G9, after the experiment.


2月20日至24日是斐特思的科学周(Science Week),在此期间,学生们进行了许多科学趣味实验,包括部分物理、化学实验等。

February 20 to 24 was FCG Science Week, during which students conducted many interesting science experiments, including some physics and chemistry experiments.



“我们会经常带小朋友、大朋友们一起做一些简单的化学实验,目的在于让学生们真正体验化学是一门什么样的学科,帮助他们喜欢上化学。”马嘉雪老师是斐特思化学部当之无愧的学科代言人。在她看来,学习化学离不开实验。

"We often do some simple chemical experiments with students to let them experience the fun of chemistry." Jiaxue Ma is a well-respected subject teacher in the Department of Chemistry at FCG. In her opinion, learning chemistry can not be separated from experiments.


拥有4年助教和科研经历,除了上课以外,嘉雪老师大学时几乎一直泡在实验室里,她形容实验室像她的第二个家,“以前做科研的时候,基本每天都在实验室。现在重心放在教学上,实验室对我来说成了一个非常重要的教学场所,带着学生做实验也成了我生活中很重要的一部分。”

With four years of TA and scientific research experience, besides attending classes, Jiaxue spent almost all her time in the laboratory at college. She described the laboratory as her second home, "but now the laboratory has become a very important teaching place for me, and doing experiments with students has become an important part of my life."


她认为化学最大的魅力点同样在于实验,“因为很多时候,实验结果并不是你所预期的,但我们有可能会通过实验惊喜地发现一些更加新的内容。”在日常教学中,她会尽可能带着学生一起做实验,让学生感受化学实验的魅力。“学生们也很喜欢这样的形式,因为通过实验,他们能够更加直观、更加深刻地去理解所学的化学知识。”

She believes that the greatest charm of chemistry also lies in experiments "because most of the time, the results of the experiment are not what we expect, but we may be surprised to find some new content through the experiment." In normal teaching, she often experiments with students." Students also love it. They are able to understand chemical knowledge more intuitively and deeply through experiments. "



微观到宏观· 打开另一扇大门

From the Micro to Macro:Open a New Door to the World


花的颜色、水果的香气、铁丝的锈蚀……生活中随处可见化学的“身影”。谈到对于化学研究的兴趣,嘉雪老师想起了自己的高中时光,“高中时,我对所有的理科都很感兴趣,因此在大学选择了化学专业。”也是因为兴趣,在南开大学化学系毕业后,她选择了在化学领域继续深造,并以优异的成绩成功拿到达特茅斯学院的全额奖学金,开启了在国外的求学之旅。

Because of her interest in chemistry research, Jiaxue won a full scholarship from Dartmouth College after graduating from Nankai University and starting her study abroad.


顶尖的大学给予学生的远不止丰富的教学资源,更重要的是思维上的启迪,“在达特茅斯时,我的研究主要是生物物理化学方向,一个非常综合的学科,研究过程会涉及到大量理化生知识,计算机模拟和计算也成了非常重要的一部分,它让你认识到化学其实并不是一个孤立的学科,而是一个非常宽泛的、可以应用到很多领域的学科。”

 Top universities give students far more than rich teaching resources, but more importantly, inspiration in thinking. "When I was at Dartmouth, I majored in biophysical chemistry, a very interdisciplinary subject; the research process would involve a lot of physical, chemical and biological knowledge, and computer simulation and calculation would also be important. It made me realise that chemistry was not an isolated subject but a broad subject that can be applied to many fields."


也正是在达特茅斯担任助教的经历为嘉雪老师打开了通往另一个世界的大门,“当时我教授的是基础化学,第一个学期课程结束后,学生们问我下一学期还当不当TA(助教),因为他们还想选我的课。最后一年课程结束的时候,所有人都过来排队跟我拥抱,当时真的很感动。”

Her TA experience at Dartmouth also opened the door to a new world. "At that time, I taught basic chemistry. And at the end of the semester, everyone lined up and hugged me. It was so touching. "



“我慢慢发现自己对教学非常有热情,我很喜欢跟同学们一起交流的感觉,也喜欢解答他们的问题,每次大家有进步,或是弄懂了什么问题,我就会非常有成就感,这也是为什么我后来会决定当化学老师。”而斐特思吸引她的恰恰是轻松友好的学习氛围与师生关系。每每提及与学生们的相处,嘉雪总是满脸笑容:“虽然我们学校比较年轻,但我们有非常棒的硬件设施,师资也很强大,所有的老师都有非常好的教育背景。而且最重要的是,学生们真的很有爱,大家相处得非常愉快。”

"I eventually found that I was very enthusiastic about teaching. I enjoy communicating with students and figuring out their problems. Whenever they make progress, I get a great sense of achievement. That's why I decided to be a chemistry teacher later." What attracted her to FCG was the relaxed and friendly learning atmosphere and the relationship between teachers and students. "Although our school is young, we have very good hardware facilities, and all teachers have a very good educational background. Above all, students are kind and friendly, and we get along very well."



像碳元素一样 · 催化孩子们成长

Like the Catalytic Element:Catalyze the Growth of Children.


氢氦锂铍硼、碳氮氧氟氖……要说最希望自己成为什么元素,嘉雪老师选择了“碳”,“碳是生命的基石,它能伸出四条‘手’,形成四个化学键,沟通和连接很多元素,这也是我所希望的。”她希望自己能像催化反应一样,帮助更多的学生,催化一代又一代学生成长,见证他们的进步。

When asked which chemical element she would choose to be, Jiaxue chose "carbon". "Carbon is the cornerstone of life. It forms four chemical bonds, which communicate and connect to so many other elements." She hopes to help more students and facilitate the growth of students generation after generation, just like a catalytic agent.


在日常教学中,嘉雪老师善于激发学生们的学习兴趣,带领他们探索化学世界。“实验是一种方式,在课堂上我还会专门设计一些趣味性的活动,让学生们参与进来。”

In daily teaching, Jiaxue is good at stimulating students' interest in learning and leading them to explore the World of Chemistry. "Conducting experiments is a favoured method, but I will also design exciting activities in class involving the students."


她认为加深课堂知识与日常生活的联系,是学习化学的另一重要意义。

She believes that it's essential for students to realise the close connection between chemistry and reality.


“要让学生感知到,化学其实与生活息息相关。”开车用燃油,做菜用天然气,打火机里是丁烷,生活中化学无处不在,学习化学也能让学生更从容地应对生活,保护自己,“比如我们日常使用的消毒酒精,它是一种易燃物质,因此在使用的过程中,一定要注意保存,同时也要注意不能大面积喷洒,因为一旦靠近火源,可能会发生爆炸。”

"For example, the disinfectant alcohol we use daily, which is a flammable substance, cannot be sprayed in a large area because once it is close to a fire, it may explode."


“我们在做实验的时候还会非常强调实验安全,如果是不便现场操作的危险化学物品,我们会选择让学生在计算机上进行模拟实验。”

"We attach great importance to the safety of the laboratory. When it comes to experiments involving dangerous chemicals, we enable students to conduct computer simulation experiments instead."


斐特思为每位学子配备iPad及其他学习设备,方便学生们的日常学习,“从长远看,无论他们以后从事什么领域,计算机能力都非常关键,这一点我们学校做得非常好,学生们从小就知道如何使用计算机更好地辅助学习,这对于他们以后的发展也会十分有益。”

FCG equips every middle school student with an iPad and other learning devices to facilitate daily learning. "It is quite good. In the long run, computer capacity is quite necessary. Learning to use computers to help study from an early age will benefit their future development."  


“当然,无论是实验还是设备,这些都是辅助手段,目的是为了让学生更好地吸收和转化知识。”嘉雪老师补充道。但她认为化学探究的意义其实远不止于此,“化学与其他科学联系很紧密,很多时候会涉及物理、生物等领域,在课堂上我也会进一步讲解,拓宽他们的视野。

"Both experiments and equipment are auxiliary means for students to absorb information better," added Jiaxue. In addition, she believes chemistry learning is far more than that. "Chemistry, as a science, which is closely related to other sciences. When it involves physics, biology and other fields, I will further explain it in class to broaden students' horizons."


事实上,学生们在中学阶段研究的宏观反应与微观探析、变化观念与平衡思想、证据推理与实验考证等,其最终的目的都在于培养他们的科学意识与探究能力。

The ultimate goal of students' research in senior school is to cultivate their scientific consciousness and inquiry ability.
